Summer is always a busy time in Beaver, with all the annual events and festivals going on. This year it’s going to be even busier—and not necessarily in a good way—thanks to the Route 68 (i.e., Third Street) Roadway Improvement Project, which will be taking place from Buffalo Street all the way to the Bridgewater exit at the other end of town.
The good thing is PennDOT is going to be milling and resurfacing the road and making much-needed updates to traffic signals, signs, and sidewalks all along our main street. The bad news is that all this work is going to make a huge mess in the downtown business district and make traffic pretty much a nightmare until it’s complete next spring.
Also, due to the construction, the Beaver Area Chamber’s annual Hot Summer Nights Car Cruise, which was originally scheduled for August 2, unfortunately had to be cancelled this year.
But fear not, dear reader, for we here at Split Personality, along with more than a dozen other stores in town have collaborated to bring you a brand-new and fun summer activity for your whole family!
The Great Downtown Beaver Scavenger Hunt will take place on Saturday, August 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. This exciting event will give you and your family the opportunity to explore many of Beaver’s charming downtown stores as you search for clues in a Reality-TV-like adventure. Best of all, just for completing the scavenger hunt, you’ll be entered into a drawing to win a “Beaver Basket”, filled with a bunch of goodies donated by participating stores in town.
To register for the event, visit Castle Toys and Games (682 Third Street) on August 2. Beginning at 10 a.m., you can receive your first clue in the Downtown Beaver Scavenger Hunt.
So even though things are going to be a little hectic in Beaver this summer, we’re certainly making the most of it. Come join us on August 2 for what’s sure to be a great new downtown Beaver tradition!
